Kansas City based R&B artist Nyil’a Webster (pronounced Ni-ya) is known for her smooth alto vocals that pierce the soul and her versatile elegant to funky wardrobe style. Her music draws influence from talented greats such as Natalie Cole, Denise Williams, the Emotions, and as she continued to grow as an artist Whitney Houston, Patti Labelle, Maria Carey, Babyface, Bruno Mars, and her all time favorite Stevie Wonder also influenced her musical style.

As a teenager, Nyil’a blew judges away during an audition with her perfect pitch a cappella rendition of “Home” from the musical “WIZ”. Later, after singing backup for several years, Nyil’a created her own trio group called Plush. The group collaborated with Kansas City’s own Grand Jury Band who later changed their name to Lo-Key; the chart topping Minneapolis based R&B group.

Nyil’a and her dynamic group were also known as the KC Dream Girls. The trio was chosen from a group of 100 trios to represent Kansas City by singing at various events around town. They had the spectacular experience of performing the National Anthem for their hometown baseball team the Royals and they also performed at the State Fair and Governors conference.

As a solo artist, Nyil’a opened for renowned musical artists such as Aaron Hall, Sounds of Blackness, Avant, and Smokie Norful to name a few. She garnered the attention from Sony Records, RCA and Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella label. Fans and radio personalities describe her singing as, “What R&B has been missing” and “Nyil’a brings back old school R&B feel.”

Within the last three years, Nyil’a had the incredible opportunity to perform on New Year’s Eve at Prince’s Paisley Park. From there came the opportunity for her debut song entitled, “You Can Come Home” to be released spring of 2022 and is gaining momentum on independent charts. Nyil’a hopes this single will unite couples in broken relationships to try love once more.

With several tours under her belt most recent tours include Tweet, Carl Thomas, Charlie Wilson, Xscape, Tony Terry, and Anthony Hamilton.
